On Friday, a meeting summarizing the inspection of “Giertych trios” in upper-secondary schools in Bolesławiec County was held in the conference room of the district office. The meeting was attended by: Elżbieta Tyc, Senior Inspector of the Lower Silesian Education Authority in Wrocław; Joanna Marczewska, an inspector from the Jelenia Góra Branch of the Education Authority; a representative of the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters, Commissioner Krzysztof Zbroja; Jadwiga Bobek, a representative of the county council; the Bolesławiec county head; representatives of the Education, Culture, Physical Culture and Sport Department of the District Office; and directors of Bolesławiec upper-secondary schools.
During the meeting, the results of the inspection of the state of safety in upper-secondary schools in Bolesławiec County were discussed. Effective methods of cooperation between schools and various bodies, such as the police, to prevent threats in schools were also discussed. The meeting also included a presentation of the principles of the government program to improve safety, “Zero Tolerance for Violence at School.”
The so-called “Giertych trios” inspecting Bolesławiec schools consisted of a district office employee, a police officer and an Education Authority employee, or a substitute for the latter, such as an employee of a psychological and pedagogical counseling center. During the inspections, the “Giertych trios” held discussions with school teachers and students. In addition, students completed questionnaires in which they identified what they considered to be the greatest threats. The main threats in Polish schools are aggression, violence and access to drugs. Smoking cigarettes and consuming alcohol are also problems.
