The incident occurred on May 12, at around 3:30 p.m., in Miłków (Podgórzyn municipality). Police officers from the Traffic Department of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra stopped a Daewoo vehicle for a roadside inspection. The vehicle had been adapted to carry 7 people.
The vehicle was driven by a 63-year-old man who, as it turned out, was carrying 15 people in the 7-seat van—8 too many. Among the passengers were 2 Ukrainian citizens who gave the officers false personal details. The foreigners were handed over to Border Guard officers, who will determine whether the men are staying in Poland legally.
The driver was fined PLN 600 and received 8 penalty points. His driving licence was also withheld.
The van driver explained that the vehicle's passengers had been employed to cut down trees in the forest.
