Fortunately, no accidents occurred between 29 April and 3 May. However, officers recorded 17 collisions and detained 14 drivers who were under the influence of alcohol.
What is more, officers issued 279 fines (243 for exceeding the speed limit). In fourteen cases, the matter will be decided by a court.
In addition, four drivers had their driving licences suspended:
- two for exceeding the speed limit by more than 50 km/h in a built-up area
- one for a flagrant violation of traffic regulations
- a motorcyclist who, in a 40 km/h zone, was travelling at 115 km/h and failed to stop for a traffic check. Officers from the Bolesławiec traffic police detained the speedster after a chase. The 25-year-old from Lubań, who was carrying a female passenger, fled from the police, repeatedly breaking the law. Among other things, he overtook at a pedestrian crossing and an intersection, and while negotiating bends he moved into the opposite lane, crossing a double solid line.
The motorcyclist's further fate will be decided by the court. The 25-year-old faces a driving ban of up to three years and a fine of up to PLN 5,000.
