In 2016, the programme “Screening examinations – prevention of breast diseases in women” has two providers: Centrum Medyczne STOMADENT in Bolesławiec and Centrum Specjalistyczne BIOMED in Bolesławiec. As part of the programme, breast mammography with a report and breast ultrasound with a report are provided. The preventive diagnostic examinations are intended for women aged 40 to 50 and women over 69 who live in the city of Bolesławiec. In 2015, 184 women from Bolesławiec benefited from the examinations. The programme does not cover people who in 2015 benefited from diagnostic examinations funded by Gmina Miejska Bolesławiec as part of breast disease prevention for women, except where a repeat examination is recommended by a doctor.
The examinations are performed upon presentation of an identity document confirming the patient’s age, sex, PESEL number and place of residence, as well as, where applicable, a doctor’s recommendation.
The examinations are performed at Centrum Specjalistyczne BIOMED in Bolesławiec, at 14 Komuny Paryskiej Street. Patients arrange the date of individual examinations in person or by telephone at 501 084 798 or 75 647 34 80, Monday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Another location where the examinations are performed is Centrum Medyczne STOMADENT in Bolesławiec, at 21 Dolne Młyny Street. Patients arrange the date of individual examinations in person or by telephone at 75 734 68 68, Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
“Screening examinations – prevention of breast diseases in women” supplements the programme financed by the National Health Fund for women aged 50 to 69.
The programme “Prevention of eye diseases in children” is intended for first-grade primary school pupils. The programme provider is ophthalmologist Elżbieta Ośko, MD – Individual Specialist Medical Care. The programme includes visual acuity testing, computer-based refractive error testing, a fundus examination and guidance for parents on further care for the child.
The examinations are performed on the basis of lists prepared and approved by school principals and an established schedule. The examinations are performed at Chumed, 10A Tysiąclecia Avenue in Bolesławiec, and at OPTYK, 13/14 Rynek.
In 2015, 313 pupils reported for the examinations, representing 76.7% of the total number of first-grade children whose parents had declared their willingness to use the free examinations. In 111 cases, representing 35.5% of the children examined, visual impairments were detected.
The programme “Prevention of tooth decay in children” is intended for second-grade primary school pupils. The provider is Chodyra Clinic Dominik Chodyra in Bolesławiec. The programme includes an examination of the condition of the oral cavity—an assessment of dental health, with particular attention to the presence of carious lesions and malocclusions (preparation of a dental chart) in second-grade children attending Bolesławiec’s public primary schools. Parents are also guided on further care for the child. The examinations are performed on the basis of lists prepared and approved by school principals and an established schedule. The examinations are performed at Chodyra Clinic Klinika Implantologii i Ortodoncji, 1/1A Garncarska Street in Bolesławiec.
In 2015, 312 pupils reported for the examinations, representing 88.7% of the total number of second-grade children. In 21 cases, decay in permanent teeth was detected, while in 56 cases, orthodontic treatment was found to be necessary.
The programme “Screening for postural and lower-limb defects in preschool children” is intended for children aged 3 and 5. The provider is Miejski Zakład Rehabilitacji Leczniczej Sp z o.o. in Bolesławiec. The programme will begin with the new school year, at the turn of October and November this year. In 2016, approximately 550 children are expected to be examined. In 2015, 524 children were examined, representing 75%. Lower-limb defects were detected in 213 of the children examined, or 30.1%, while postural defects were detected in 16 children, or 2.3%. As part of the programme, children were examined using specialist measuring instruments. Each child examined received a certificate containing information about existing lower-limb and postural defects. Based on the information included in the record, both group supervisors and parents received guidance on further care for the examined child if any defect was present.
