The detention took place during a traffic check. Police officers from the Criminal Department of Police Station I in Jelenia Góra detained a 30-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra County who was transporting alcohol, tobacco and cigarettes without fiscal excise duty stamps.
The man was transporting 25 litres of alcohol in 0.9-litre bottles, 40 kg of tobacco and 12,000 cigarettes from well-known brands in his car. It was estimated that if the illegal goods had entered the market, the State Treasury could have lost more than PLN 30,000.
The 30-year-old was detained in police custody. He could face up to three years in prison.
