Officers from the District Police Headquarters in Lubin arrested a 31-year-old man suspected of robbing a woman.
The incident took place in 2013. At the time, an unknown assailant attacked a woman in the city. The attacker knocked the victim to the ground. He then stole her pouch containing money. Police officers from the criminal investigation department conducted a detailed examination of the scene. They also secured traces left by the perpetrator.
The evidence was sent to the central forensic laboratory and compared with databases from European Union countries. DNA testing showed that the traces secured in Lubin matched those taken from one of the men in another country. Thus, the identity of the robbery perpetrator was confirmed after nearly three years.
The man was arrested and has already been charged. He now faces up to 12 years in prison.
