– Thanks to your generous hearts, we collected PLN 2,220 in the collection box, and PLN 2,000 from funds transferred directly to the Wrocław Hospice for Children Foundation with the note “WBS Children from Preschool No. 4 in Bolesławiec.” The total amount raised by our children is PLN 4,220 – report the organizers of the II Children for Children Run from Municipal Public Preschool No. 4 in Bolesławiec.
It is worth recalling that the hospice is based in Wrocław and operates throughout Lower Silesia. The children stay in their own homes, with their families, in familiar and close surroundings. Doctors, nurses, rehabilitation therapists and volunteers travel to them. Most of the illnesses are chronic and have neurological or genetic causes. The hospice also helps children after completing oncological treatment and those who have been involved in accidents.
Trained staff strive to be with the young patients whenever they need them, when pain must be relieved or the weakened body’s proper functioning monitored. In fact, the hospice patient is not only the child but the entire family, which also needs continuous care from a doctor or psychologist. In addition, expensive medical equipment is purchased using funds raised from the public.
