First-year undergraduate students are studying in armored and mechanized specializations, while the foreign students came to us במסגרת the Erasmus programme. At WSOWL, they are taking the Weapon System Development course and come from Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Lithuania and Germany.
The purpose of the future soldiers’ visit was to undertake a study tour intended to familiarize the officer cadets with the Brigade’s specific characteristics, the key tactical and technical parameters of its equipment, the training process, the training facilities and the traditions of the unit they were visiting.
During their stay with the Brigade in Świętoszów, Polish and foreign students attended a demonstration of military equipment prepared by soldiers of the self-propelled artillery squadron (dplot), and also learned about the organizational structure of the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade, the Brigade’s main tasks and its traditions.
The officer cadets were then introduced to selected elements of the training facilities. They visited the Śnieżnik training and simulation system for small arms, where they observed subunit training and also had the opportunity to find themselves at the center of one of the simulated training situations.
The final item on the programme was a visit to the Leopard Training Centre. The guests were welcomed there by the centre’s commander, Major Krzysztof Kacperek, who briefly described the establishment, history and purpose of the only Leopard 2 tank crew training centre in Poland. The centre’s instructors then explained to the officer cadets the purpose and operating principles of the individual simulators.
Students from the Military Academy in Wrocław visit the armored brigade regularly. This was their first, but not their last, encounter with the equipment—and especially with the Leopard 2A4 tank, a legend that was the reason many of them chose this particular path in life.
On 23 March 2016, national defense organizations also took part in tactical and firearms training. The 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade was visited by members of: the League of National Defense, Igołomia-Wawrzeńczyce Territorial Defense Section; the League of National Defense, Kraków Krowodrza; the Public Social General Secondary School in Trzebinia; the “10-tka” District Sports Shooting Club in Radomsko; the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association (Greater Poland district); the Strzelec Rifle Association in Warsaw; and the Rifle Association in Radom.
