On 16 March, in the article They Drink Alcohol in Playgrounds, Pretend to Be Ninjas and Destroy Public Property we reported that city monitoring is an effective tool for detecting socially disruptive offences, such as alcohol consumption and acts of vandalism.

As it turns out, monitoring also helps detect offences involving failure to clean up after one's dog. It is worth remembering that a person walking an animal is obliged to immediately remove any excrement left by the pet.

By cleaning up after our dogs, we care not only for the city's appearance, but also for the health of other animals and people. Moreover, failing to clean up after a pet can cost up to PLN 500.

Free so-called dog-walking packs – bags used to remove dog excrement – are available at the Municipal Police headquarters at 14 Mikołaja Brody Street. They can be collected from Monday to Thursday between 07:30 and 23:00, and on Fridays and Saturdays between 08:00 and 04:00.

Update

On 15 March, during the morning, a woman was spotted on Tyrankiewiczów Street walking through the municipal park with her dog. The dog relieved itself, but its owner did not feel obliged to clean up the excrement. A patrol was sent to the scene. The woman was fined.

Later, a young man walking his dog was observed in the square on Zygmunta Augusta Street. When the dog relieved itself, its handler left the scene without cleaning up. It turned out that he was a minor, so officers spoke to him as a corrective measure and ordered him to remove the excrement.

That same evening, a monitoring operator observed a woman walking through the municipal park with a dog off the leash. The situation repeated itself – the Bolesławiec resident did not intend to clean up after her pet. She was fined.

It is worth mentioning that Municipal Police intervention does not end with issuing a fine, but also includes ordering the dog waste to be cleaned up.
