The culmination of the first military rotation exercise of this year was a test of specialist knowledge and skills, which the soldiers took on 14 March this year at the Land Forces Field Training Centre in Świętoszów.
During the first week of intensive training, the NSR soldiers focused on improving their skills in their respective specialties: gunners, topographers, calculators and drivers. Under the supervision of experienced commanders and instructors, they had the opportunity to enhance their skills and improve their practical preparation for operating in positions assigned under the mobilisation and crisis plans at the artillery regiment in Bolesławiec.
In the following days, the National Reserve Forces soldiers used the knowledge and practical skills they had acquired while carrying out tasks at the training ground as part of a regular squad, platoon and battery during combat operations.
After two weeks of exercises, it was time to summarise the training and give the soldiers an opportunity to demonstrate their level of proficiency by testing their specialist knowledge and their ability to operate within the requirements of combat-training standards. The individual standards for crew members of 152 mm Dana self-propelled howitzers and 122 mm WR-40 Langusta launchers were tested, as were the drivers’ specialist tasks. The NSR soldiers specialising in artillery prepared the PAB compass protractor for use, determined the magnetic azimuth with an AK compass and established their position using GPS. In addition, as part of the assessment of general military skills, they were evaluated on performing standards for establishing communications, disassembling and assembling weapons, putting on gas masks and guiding a helicopter in accordance with applicable procedures.
The instructors responsible for the individual areas covered by the test emphasised the soldiers’ commitment and high level of skill. The commander of the 23rd Artillery Regiment, Colonel Paweł Świtalski, who observed the examinations and met with the National Reserve Forces soldiers after they concluded, also highlighted their good attitude and discipline throughout the two-week training period.
“I hope that the best among you will soon join the ranks of the soldiers of the 23rd Artillery Regiment. Thanking you for your training effort, I wish all of you perseverance on the path to professional military service and satisfaction with the training that is coming to an end,” said the commander of the Bolesławiec artillerymen. The NSR soldiers still have physical fitness examinations ahead of them.
