Thanks to cooperation and the rapid exchange of information, police officers from Gorzów and Bolesławiec detained a 30-year-old man in connection with a robbery at a store in Gorzów. The man is also suspected of stealing a pouch from a barge moored on the Warta River. He faces up to 12 years in prison for the robbery.
On the night from Saturday to Sunday (March 5–6), Gorzów police officers received information about a robbery at a liquor store. After entering, the attacker threatened an employee with violence and demanded money. He was extremely aggressive. He led the employee to a restroom in the back area and forbade him to leave. Meanwhile, he ransacked the store, taking money and the cash box and causing losses of PLN 3,500.
Immediately after the report was made, police officers began working on the case. Crime detectives carried out activities at the scene, securing evidence and questioning witnesses. The information obtained, including details about the vehicle in which the robbery suspect might be traveling, was passed on to police officers in other provinces. The results came quickly. The trail of the suspect led to Bolesławiec (Lower Silesian Voivodeship).
Bolesławiec police officers spotted a car in one of the housing estates that matched the description provided by the officers from Gorzów. A man was sitting inside, and the officers found items on him that came from a theft committed the day before the robbery. At the time, the victim estimated the losses at several hundred zlotys.
Officers from the County Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec detained the 30-year-old and then handed the suspect over to officers from the Gorzów police headquarters. The 30-year-old was charged and confessed to both crimes. He told police officers that he had spent the money taken from the store at a casino. The officers recovered the items stolen from the barge.
The 30-year-old faces up to 12 years in prison.
