On February 3 this year, around noon, police officers from Bogatynia received a report of a shoplifting incident. One of the customers, pretending to be interested in making a purchase, asked the sales assistant to show her more perfumes. She did so only to take a container of cosmetics a moment later and run out of the store. Her haul included, among other things, face powders and nail polishes worth at least PLN 500.
Based on the description provided, the officers handling the case identified a woman suspected of committing the theft. They began searching for her. Less than an hour later, they spotted the suspect near her place of residence.
The officers were not mistaken. They found some of the stolen cosmetics on the 29-year-old resident of Bogatynia. And in the suspect’s apartment, officers found… her 28-year-old brother, who, as it turned out, had been hiding from the justice system because he was due to serve a one-and-a-half-year prison sentence.
The sister faces up to five years in prison; her brother has already been taken to a prison.
