13 cadets from various technical-school classes had been taking part in military training since October 2015, in addition to their regular studies. The training was based on the minimum curriculum developed by the Ministry of National Defence.

Since the previous school year, the school had been preparing to establish such a uniformed group, participating, among other events, in the Uniformed Classes Congress in Warsaw and the 6th National Forum of Schools Providing Uniformed Education.

The ceremony was led by Major Jacek Nesler, who is the uniformed class’s supervisor. During the oath-taking ceremony, the cadets were accompanied by representatives of institutions with which the school had established cooperation, their parents, classmates and the teaching staff.

The military training will involve preparing students for military service, including through promoting defence sports, shooting and rescue skills, as well as promoting pro-defence attitudes, popularising military history and preserving the memory of places of combat. Moreover, before the end of this school year, the cadets will complete more than 30 hours of field training and, thanks to Major Jacek Nesler’s initiative, enjoy an active winter break with activities at the swimming pool, gym and ice rink.

As stated on the ZSOiZ website:

The oath-taking ceremony is the culmination of many activities, meetings and cooperation established. It is also the result of the efforts of the Bolesławiec County Board, headed by County Governor Dariusz Kwaśniewski, and Department Head Alicja Krzyszczak, who agreed to organise additional military-training classes, a new and innovative opportunity for our students to develop their interests and skills.

From the very beginning, the idea of establishing a uniformed class was supported by Colonel Stanisław Chwojnicki, who initiated the signing of agreements with the General Tadeusz Kościuszko Military University of Land Forces in Wrocław, the 10th Armoured Cavalry Brigade in Świętoszów, the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment in Bolesławiec and the Association of Former Soldiers of 62 KS Commando in Bolesławiec.

The culmination of all these efforts and decisions is the permanent introduction of uniformed education into the educational offer of the Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących i Zawodowych.

On the Facebook profile of the Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących i Zawodowych im. mjra Henryka Sucharskiego, there are more photos from the oath-taking ceremony for students of the first year of the uniformed class.
