During the exercise, led by the squadron commander, Lieutenant Colonel Piotr Jaraczewski, soldiers from the 1st Anti-Aircraft Battery and the Command Battery took part. The exercise assessed not only the subunits but also their commanders. The weather conditions were exceptionally favorable for the anti-aircraft troops from Świętoszów: after a week of Arctic frosts, a thaw arrived, and temperatures were above freezing, even at night.

The first part of the exercise involved checking the issuing of orders by battery, platoon and squad commanders. The work of reconnaissance groups and the conduct of marches to designated areas were also checked. The troops were assessed on crossing terrain threatened by improvised explosive devices (IEDs – Improvised Explosive Device) and on the subunits’ response in the event of activity by sabotage and reconnaissance groups (GDR).

The main part of the exercise assessed the deployment and organization of the squadron command post elements. During this time, the firing battery took up its combat formation in the defensive area. The organization of ammunition deliveries, the implementation of MEDEVAC and CASEVAC procedures, and the practical technical evacuation of damaged equipment were then inspected.

The exercise concluded with live-fire exercises. As usual, the anti-aircraft troops did not disappoint, achieving very good ratings. After a week spent enduring difficult field conditions, tired but satisfied with a task well completed, they were able to return home.

Officers attending the command-and-staff lieutenant’s course at WSOWLąd, specializing in air defense, observed the anti-aircraft troops’ final activities.
