Participants will be able to give the completed postcard as a Valentine’s card. Additionally, after purchasing a postage stamp at the museum ticket office, the card can be sent via the Museum to a loved one. The motifs appearing on the postcards presented in the “Solitaire Made Entirely of Hearts” exhibition, made available free of charge to children and young people during the holidays, may inspire workshop participants
  • The exhibition “Solitaire Made Entirely of Hearts” comes from the collection of the distinguished Wrocław art historian, researcher and collector Prof. Paweł Banaś. The collection comprises approximately 300 historic postcards with romantic motifs, the oldest dating from the beginning of the 20th century. The exhibition is divided into three sections. The first presents a collection of historic postcards with romantic motifs. They often form series linked by a common form, the shape of the image area or the style of the main motif. The second section presents the “Solitaire Made Entirely of Hearts” collection. It is a set of cards exchanged as part of a correspondence between two lovers – from the end of the 19th century, for nearly five years, residents of Jablonec nad Nisou in the Czech lands wrote messages to each other using various types of postcards. They have survived, serving not only as evidence of the lovers’ feelings but also as a valuable and unique collection through which the history of postcard publishing can be traced. The third section presents reprints of historic cards from various countries, including the United States. Admission to the exhibition is free for children and young people.
