On Sunday, the Indoor Football Tournament for “youth players” (people under 21) for the Gromadka Municipality Mayor’s Cup was held at the sports hall in Gromadka. The tournament was held under the patronage of Okręgowy Związek Piłki Nożnej Jelenia Góra. The MKS Bobrzanie Bolesławiec team consisted exclusively of junior players. The squad included: Jarosław Naskręt, Radomir Kurianowicz, Adrian Markowski, Mariusz Granda, Andrzej Tofel, Wiktor Bek, Dawid Świca, Michał Banaś and Damian Kulesza. Our team was one of the youngest in the tournament, as the oldest player was only 19! Despite this, the boys performed very well, finishing second overall, just behind Sparta Zebrzydowa.

In the first stage, our team competed in Group B against Piast Zawidów, KS Krzyżowa and the eventual winners, Sparta. The start of the tournament was an unpleasant surprise for Bobrzanie. They lost 0–3 to the theoretically weaker team from Krzyżowa! After a sharp reprimand from coach Artur Kwiatkowski, the Bolesławiec team’s play improved considerably. In the following matches, Bobrzanie defeated Piast Zawidów 1–0 and drew 0–0 with Zebrzydowa.

Thanks to the favorable results in the other matches, our team advanced to the semifinals, where they faced GKS Raciborowice—the second-place team in Group A, which was unexpectedly won by the tournament organizers, GKS Gromadka. In the knockout stage, our team played more boldly and won their semifinal 1–0. Jarosław Naskręt scored for Bobrzanie. The second semifinal ended with a victory for Sparta Zebrzydowa, meaning the final would be a rematch of the group-stage game, which had ended in a goalless draw.

Before the final, matches for the remaining places were played. Immediately after the “third-place match,” in which GKS Gromadka defeated the Raciborowice team 2–1, the highly motivated teams from Bobrzanie and Zebrzydowa took the field. Both teams treated the match very seriously, as shown by the uncompromising shoulder-to-shoulder battle and the very fast pace of the game. Unfortunately, Sparta Zebrzydowa scored following one of their counterattacks. The score did not change until the end, and Bobrzanie, despite being no worse than their opponents, lost the final 0–1 and had to settle for second place.

Several tense situations occurred on the field during the competition, resulting in the referees showing two red cards. This led to unnecessary confusion during the awards ceremony. Fortunately, it did not significantly affect the quality of the sporting spectacle.
