The inspection took place during a nighttime patrol in the Gromadka municipality. It was before 4 a.m. when the officers noticed a moped with a damaged rear-lamp cover. The police stopped the two-wheeler to check why the vehicle was travelling on the road in that condition.
During the inspection, it quickly became clear that the rider’s list of offences was considerably longer. The 20-year-old did not have the required driving licence, and the moped itself was not approved for road use. That was not the end of the matter.
The officers also established that the registration plates fitted to the two-wheeler had been assigned to another vehicle.
The resident of Bolesławiec County was detained and then brought before the prosecutor’s office. He was charged with using a registration plate assigned to another vehicle. This offence carries a sentence of up to five years in prison.
The 20-year-old will also be held responsible for driving a vehicle without the required licence and for driving a vehicle not approved for road use.
As the police emphasize, this time an ordinary inspection prompted by a damaged lamp led to the discovery of several serious violations of the law.
