Officers from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica, who combat property crime, have charged four people suspected of stealing fuel from tankers standing on one of the railway sidings in Legnica County.
During the investigation, it was established that four residents of nearby towns stole diesel fuel from railway tankers between July and September last year. The perpetrators opened tankers from which the oil had previously been pumped into tanks at a fuel depot, and then used canisters to remove the diesel fuel left in the tankers.
In this way, they managed to steal approximately 3,300 litres of fuel with a total wholesale value of several tens of thousands of złoty. The suspects may now face up to 5 years in prison for the thefts. The court will decide their further fate.
Police officers are continuing to clarify all the circumstances of the case, including where the stolen fuel was being taken.
