Thanking the soldiers for the effort they put into carrying out tasks during the past year, the commander of the Bolesławiec artillerymen, Colonel Paweł Świtalski, discussed the priority tasks facing the regiment in 2016:

The start of training for volunteers of the first intake of preparatory service for the National Reserve Forces, the continuation of preparations for soldiers to carry out tasks abroad as part of the 34th rotation of the Polish Military Contingent KFOR, and a series of exercises and training sessions involving the regiment’s staff and subunits are among the many tasks awaiting us in 2016. I am convinced that, thanks to your commitment and the effort you put into your daily training and service, we will achieve all the training objectives set for this year.

After Lieutenant Colonel Sławomir Kula discussed the main directions of action and priorities in official activities, the commander of the Bolesławiec artillerymen welcomed the volunteers of the first intake of preparatory service for the National Reserve Forces to the 23rd Artillery Regiment. They had begun four-month training at the 23rd Artillery Regiment on 8 January. He then carried out the symbolic presentation of weapons—an item of a soldier’s equipment and a symbol of security—to representatives of three training companies.

The new year also brought personnel changes in the regiment. The formation, attended by the unit’s entire personnel, provided an opportunity to introduce Lieutenant Colonel Witold Zawadzki, appointed chief of staff of the 23rd Artillery Regiment. The artilleryman, with many years of experience gained during service in the 11th Masurian Artillery Regiment and as chief of the WRiA of the 1st Warsaw Armoured Brigade, replaced Lieutenant Colonel Sławomir Kula in this position. Kula was appointed deputy commander of the 23rd Artillery Regiment.

Colonel Świtalski also presented promotion certificates for the next military rank to Warrant Officer Grzegorz Prystupa and Corporals Marcin Rudnicki, Krzysztof Faltyn and Nikodem Zdonek. At the end of the formation, he presented soldiers with certificates and letters of congratulations for their commitment during a tactical exercise as part of the 12th Division, in which the artillerymen took part in December of the previous year.

After the formation, a meeting of officers of the 23rd Artillery Regiment was held, during which the Officer of the Year was elected according to new assessment criteria. Following the presentation of the candidates and a detailed description of each contender by the captain acting as the corps’ representative of trust, Michał Kozarski, Captain Grzegorz Podolszański—chief of the operations section of the 3rd rocket artillery squadron—was elected the 2015 Officer of the Year at the 23rd Artillery Regiment.
