On January 10, the duty officer at the Police Station in Bogatynia received a report of a robbery theft that had occurred in one of the shops in Bogatynia. The perpetrator put two drills into a shopping cart, but he had no intention of paying for them.
As he was bypassing the checkout line, he was noticed by a security guard, who tried to prevent him from leaving the shop. At that point, the second perpetrator ran up, and together they began beating the guard on the head before fleeing with drills worth more than PLN 600.
Later that same day, despite the perpetrators’ rather vague descriptions, police officers from Bogatynia identified the suspects. They turned out to be two residents of Bogatynia, aged 31 and 35. They were completely surprised by the police officers’ visit.
The officers recovered one of the stolen drills. The detainees face up to 10 years in prison.
