The first training session of this year will be attended by 250 trainees, who over the next four months will acquire the skills necessary for their future service.

From the early morning hours, volunteers from various regions of Poland arrived at the Bolesławiec barracks to begin their “adventure with the military”—a four-month preparatory training course enabling them to sign contracts for service in the National Reserve Forces.

For trainee Artur Łysek, a graduate of the military class in Łazy, the preparatory training will be a continuation of his existing interest in the military. He is a member of an independent scouting operational and reconnaissance group, and since last year has supplemented his interests by studying emergency medical care. He sees future service as an opportunity for interesting work that will develop his existing passion and interests. However, in order to reach his subunit, like the other volunteers he had to undergo the induction procedure.

After passing through the pass office and registering their presence at the attendance registration point, the trainees ate their first soldiers’ meal. Immediately afterward, in organized groups under the command of duty personnel from the training battalion, they proceeded through the subsequent service admission points, including personnel registration, finance, psychoprophylaxis and the education officer’s station. After visiting the barber and undergoing examinations at the medical point, everyone was issued uniforms and accommodated in subunits that will be their new home for the next four months.

During the first days of service, the trainees will become familiar with the training facilities of the 23rd Artillery Regiment and the regulations in force in the Polish Armed Forces. They will learn the rights and duties of a soldier and receive training in occupational health and safety, as well as fire protection. After this period, intensive training will begin to prepare the candidates for service in the National Reserve Forces.

The induction into service took place as part of the first training session of the year for preparatory-service soldiers for the private corps, conducted at Training Centers and selected units throughout the country. Among the units of the 11th Lubusz Armored Cavalry Division, this task is being carried out for the second time by the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment. The regiment commander became the commandant of the Preparatory Service Training Center at the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment.

The training is conducted by the training battalion commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Tomasz Lisiecki, while the duty personnel preparing volunteers for service in the National Reserve Forces are experienced soldiers from units of the 11th Lubusz Armored Cavalry Division: the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment, the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade, the 17th Wielkopolska Mechanized Brigade and the 4th Zielona Góra Anti-Aircraft Regiment.

The four-month training of the soldiers is divided into two stages. The first is a three-month basic training period. After successful verification, the trainees move on to the next stage—a month-long specialist training course during which they will acquire the knowledge necessary to perform tasks in their military specialty. It will conclude with an examination. During this period, volunteers will be able to submit applications to military units to conclude contracts for performing duties within the National Reserve Forces.
