On 2 January 2016, at approximately 8:20 p.m., police officers stopped a Citroën on one of the streets in Kowary for a roadside check. The driver turned out to be a 32-year-old man travelling with his 33-year-old friend.
The men were visibly nervous during the check. The officers smelled marijuana inside the car. They also noticed that the passenger was trying to hide something under the seat. It turned out to be drugs. When the officers secured the marijuana belonging to the 33-year-old, the driver admitted that he also had some.
In total, the officers secured marijuana from which nearly 150 retail doses could have been obtained. It also turned out that the driver was wanted by the District Court in Jelenia Góra and was to serve a substitute prison sentence for an unpaid fine.
Both men were detained in police custody. They face up to three years in prison.
