The Municipality of Bolesławiec and Municipal Middle School No. 2 are implementing the “Me and the Human World Around Me” project as part of the school prevention program. The project won an open call for proposals under the government program for 2014–2016, “Safe and Friendly School,” which aimed to increase the effectiveness of educational and preventive measures promoting safety and creating a friendly environment in schools and educational institutions in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in 2015.
The “Me and the Human World Around Me” program consists of several phases of workshops designed to teach communication, respect, conflict resolution and integration. At the middle school, specialists created a code of good communication practices, which teachers and students implemented. Each stage of the program is highlighted by a themed play prepared by students and teachers. Last year, students from Municipal Middle School No. 2 performed in the preventive play “A Difficult Art, or a Thing About Communication” directed by Ewa Ołenicz-Bernacka. This year, a teacher and her students prepared a very powerful play entitled “Because I Don’t Want to Be Alone...” addressing, among other things, the subject of suicide.
The students also made a preventive film, “Sleep,” addressing the equally difficult issues of self-harm, loneliness, love and rejection. These were topics chosen by the students. The leading roles were played by: Klaudia Warężak, Zuzanna Lewandowska, Wiktoria Sobczyszyn, Piotr Komada and Paweł Grześków. Supporting roles: Katarzyna Chlebowicz, Katarzyna Kędzierska, Roksana Wojtasińska, Ilona Palec, Milena Kobak, Natalia Rapa, Adrianna Rutkowska, Marcelina Skalna, Julia Śliwińska, Roksana Borcz, Grzegorz Jankowski, Urszula Ilczyna, Katarzyna Wierzejska, Ewa Chrobot, Sylwia Dworzecka, Agnieszka Sekuła, Robert Bieliński and others.
