We wrote about the case in August in the article He killed a 10-year-old with an axe. He faces life imprisonment.

The investigation established that Samuel N., a resident of Kamienna Góra, was declared unemployed without the right to benefits by a decision of the Kamienna Góra county governor dated July 29, 2015. He familiarized himself with the decision on August 18, 2015.

The following morning, he left home carrying an axe, which he concealed in a dark plastic bag. He went to the Poviat Labour Office building on Sienkiewicza Street in Kamienna Góra, which he left after a brief and firm exchange of words with an employee.

He then headed toward the market square. Passing near the Atena bookshop, he took the axe out of the plastic bag and attacked a 10-year-old girl with it, striking her in the back of the head as she was entering the shop with her mother. He then discarded the weapon and began to flee.

Several minutes later, witnesses to the incident apprehended him and handed him over to the police. The girl, in very serious condition, was flown by helicopter to hospital, where she died despite the doctors’ resuscitation efforts.

The cause of Kamila Cz.’s death was the injuries sustained as a result of the axe blow to her head.

Questioned as a suspect, Samuel N. confessed to committing the alleged crime and explained that his anger had been building because he had been having trouble finding work for some time. Moreover, on August 18, 2015, he received a decision stating that he was not entitled to unemployment benefits. He went to the Poviat Labour Office to take revenge on the officials because he had received no help there. Since there were many people in the building, he abandoned his plan. He went out into the street and headed toward the city center. Seeing a small girl entering the bookshop, he struck her with the axe.

A forensic psychiatric assessment found that N. was sane at the time of the offense.

Samuel N. faces up to life imprisonment.
