Opening the artillerymen’s sports gala, the commander of the 23rd Artillery Regiment, Col. Paweł Świtalski, thanked the soldiers for the effort and hard work they had put into preparing to participate in championships held at the level of the Polish Armed Forces, the 11th “Lubuska” Armoured Cavalry Division and the Regiment championships:

I am aware of the tremendous effort each of you put into preparing for competitions and sports championships. In sport, just as in military service, there are no shortcuts. Only through tremendous effort, many hours of training at the gym and other sports facilities, as well as personal commitment, could you achieve such excellent results. Therefore, I thank you for your hard work, effort and commitment.

Next, the head of the Education and Sports Section of the 23rd Artillery Regiment, Maj. Jan Kędziora, discussed the results in individual disciplines and summed up the Regiment’s sporting achievements. In the past year, the artillerymen’s team participated in six events as part of the Polish Armed Forces championships and in 16 events as part of the DG RSZ 1–11 LDKPanc championships in mass sport. Fifteen soldiers represented the Regiment in competitions at the Polish Armed Forces level, while 74 competed at the General Command of the Armed Forces Branches 1–11 Armoured Cavalry Division level. During the fierce competition at the Polish Armed Forces Championships, soldiers of the 23rd Artillery Regiment won three gold, five silver and two bronze medals.

Maj. Kędziora:

The past year was extremely successful for the athletes of the 23rd Artillery Regiment, and their achievements in individual events and sports disciplines translated into third place in the 2015 mass-sport competition within DG RSZ 1–11DKPanc. Year by year, we climbed higher in the team classification among the division’s other units, and for the first time we stood on the podium.

After the sporting competition of the past year was summed up, the profiles of the best athletes of the Bolesławiec Regiment were presented and they were honoured. For achieving top places in the 2015 sporting competition, the commander, Col. Paweł Świtalski, presented trophies and letters of congratulations to:

  • Capt. Grzegorz Kozik – commander of the 1st rocket artillery battery of 3dar
  • Capt. Piotr Sobański – commander of the 2nd rocket artillery battery of 3dar
  • Maj. Mikołaj Górny – commander of the command battalion.

In the individual classification, the title of 23PA Athlete of the Year went to:

  • women’s classification – Lt. Agnieszka Kozik (3dar)
  • men’s classification – Pvt. Jacek Bochnia (3dar).

In addition, the commander honoured 74 athletes of the Bolesławiec Regiment with discretionary awards. At the conclusion of the sports gala, Col. Świtalski thanked the staff of the 23PA Education and Sports Section, Maj. Jan Kędziora and Senior Warrant Officer Andrzej Tkaczyk for their sporting achievements and their contribution to activities supporting physical culture and sport.
