On that frosty evening, Olivier Messiaen, a young French composer and prisoner of the camp, performed excerpts from his work “Quartet for the End of Time” for the first time. The music was accompanied by poetry by Zdzisław Nardelli (also a prisoner at Stalag VIII A).
Exactly 75 years after this event, the European Educational and Cultural Centre Meetingpoint Music Messiaen invites you to an evening of music and poetry on 12 December 2015 at 5:00 p.m. In addition to a Polish-German review of songs and poetry, during which students will present their own interpretations of well-known works, the event will also include a summary of the events of 2015. Participants in the Historical Workshops, the “Lab Summer Class” music workshops and the Polish-German “Brick Tablets” workcamp will be among those presenting the results of their work. The evening will be rounded off by a performance from the young Polish duo Agnieszka Weryszko (vocals) and Adam Ostapiuk (guitar).
