Seniors taking part in the meetings learn about the dangers they may encounter in everyday life. The training covers, for example, protecting themselves against pickpocketing and scams using the “grandchild” or “relative” method. The officers warn against letting strangers into their homes and giving them any information about their private lives.
More and more people are aware of how scammers and thieves operate and how to avoid becoming their victims. However, situations still occur in which older people are the ones who are deceived. The uniformed officers appeal to seniors to pay attention to their own safety not only at home, but also on public transport, at marketplaces and in shops.
