Parents and residents want to ensure the safety of children attending the preschool. Below is the text of the petition, which can be signed on the zmienmy.to website.
Dear Mr Mayor,
We believe that, for you—not only as the Mayor of our city, but also as a father and grandfather—the safety of residents, especially children and older people, is particularly important.
On behalf of the parents of children attending NIBYLANDIA Non-Public Preschool in Bolesławiec, located at 8/41 Łukasiewicza Street, and the residents, we submit a request for speed bumps to be installed on the street between the apartment block at Ignacy Łukasiewicz Street and Rev. Jerzy Popiełuszko Square, as well as vertical and horizontal signs informing drivers to exercise particular caution because children use the pedestrian crossing.
We often observe increased traffic on the street next to the preschool. It is a street in the very center of our city, serving not only as an access road for local residents but also leading to the ORKA Indoor Swimming Pool, which further contributes to the increased traffic. With such heavy traffic, simply crossing the road often poses a significant risk of an accident, and the fact that pedestrian crossings are located only at its ends further increases the risk. This road is, after all, a considerable length. It is difficult to cross safely to the parking lot on the other side of the street. We often notice that drivers fail to exercise particular caution and exceed the speed limit. These behaviors by motorized road users pose a threat to the health and lives of our children, users of the ORKA Indoor Swimming Pool, and residents.
In view of the above, we ask you to respond positively to our petition and install speed bumps, as well as vertical and horizontal road signs, on Ignacy Łukasiewicz Street.
Yours sincerely, Ariel Orłowski
