The Bolesławiec District Prosecutor’s Office has filed an indictment with the Regional Court in Jelenia Góra against two Bolesławiec residents: 21-year-old Michał S. and 22-year-old Piotr S. They have been charged with committing three robberies, including one involving a dangerous instrument, and stealing PLN 500.
The first incident occurred on 25 July 2015 in the afternoon in Bolesławiec, when two 15-year-old girls were walking along a street. Seeing the victims, Michał S. and Piotr S. jumped out from around a street corner, shouting, “This is a robbery.” At that time, Michał S. was holding a knife. The perpetrators forcibly tore the handbags from both girls’ shoulders and fled in an unknown direction.
The victims had mobile phones and money in their handbags. One victim estimated the total value of the stolen property at PLN 585, while the other assessed her losses at PLN 150.
Five days later, on 30 July 2015, the defendants decided that they needed to obtain some more money. During the day, they entered the EKO store in Bolesławiec and took, intending to appropriate it, a container holding money collected by the Dziecięcy Uśmiech dla Świata Foundation, based in Bielsko Biała. It was established that the container held approximately PLN 500.
After the incident, fearing arrest by the police, the perpetrators decided to take a train to Wrocław. There, at the railway station, they met three young residents of Jelenia Góra, whom they invited to travel together to Warsaw. Their new acquaintances accepted the proposal, and they went to the capital by train.
Michał S. and Piotr S. needed money, so in Warsaw, at the Central Railway Station, they used violence against their new acquaintances by hitting one of them on the shoulder and threatening the immediate use of violence against the other two. They took, intending to appropriate them, Samsung mobile phones and bags containing personal belongings. The victims estimated the total value of the stolen property at approximately PLN 3,000.
The two defendants then decided to go to Łódź. They did not return to Bolesławiec because they had run out of money for the onward journey. In Łódź, they committed another robbery in order to obtain funds for that purpose. This time, their victim was a woman working at an industrial kiosk. The men grabbed her from behind, held her face and neck with their hands, and threatened her with the immediate use of violence, taking an unknown amount of money with the intention of appropriating it. During the robbery, the woman sustained bodily injuries resulting in a health disorder lasting less than seven days.
When questioned as suspects, Michał S. and Piotr S. confessed to the crimes of which they were accused. At the request of the Bolesławiec District Prosecutor, the local District Court ordered their pre-trial detention as a preventive measure. The acts of which they are accused carry a sentence of between 3 and 15 years’ imprisonment. Both perpetrators had previous convictions.
