Until now, the position of president was held by Remigiusz Reszka, the initiator and co-organizer of, among other events, the Municipal Honey Festival. The association currently has 20 beekeepers, who collectively manage 440 bee colonies. The apiaries of all the association’s beekeepers have veterinary registration numbers, which means they are under the constant supervision of a veterinary surgeon.

Some also have identification numbers, entitling beekeepers to sell honey and honey products directly. “Our aim is not merely the production of honey and other bee products. We are focusing on educational work related to ecology and beekeeping,” says president Zbigniew Smoła.

The municipality is also not indifferent to the beekeepers’ activities. It will soon begin planting melliferous trees in various areas. In 2015, it allocated 11,000 zlotys for the development of the association, including the purchase of frames and beeswax foundation, training, the promotion of beekeeping, and, above all, apiary hygiene.

“We want to use the money wisely and economically. Next year, we are also planning similar activities. New initiatives may include educational trips to apiaries, which we want to organize for young people,” the association’s president plans.
