Police officers from the Prevention Department of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra detained a 38-year-old man suspected of illegally possessing firearms and ammunition.
The detention took place on September 24. At around 1:45 p.m., a courier from one of the companies called the police emergency number and reported that, while handing parcels to one of his customers, the customer had dropped a firearm.
A note on the door of the aforementioned man's apartment stated that he was in the basement. When the police officers went down there, he was already waiting for them.
It turned out that the 38-year-old possessed a long firearm (22 mm caliber), a modified revolver and a total of 44 rounds of ammunition of various calibers. The man stated that he had found some of these items and kept them solely for collecting purposes.
The 38-year-old may face up to 8 years in prison.
