Through the Society of Friends of Children, the Polish Red Cross, Caritas and the Association of People with Disabilities, residents of Bolesławiec County will receive free pasta, rice and powdered milk. The food supplies come from the Agricultural Agency of the State Treasury. A central donations warehouse will be organized in the sports hall on Tyrankiewiczów Street.
This year, for the first time, due to its accession to the European Union, Poland gained the opportunity to participate in the European Programme for the Most Deprived (PEAD), which has operated in EU countries for 18 years. The programme provides for the distribution of food surpluses to the neediest residents of the Union. Last year, the Polish Red Cross benefited from food surpluses transferred from the national reserves of the Agricultural Market Agency as part of the free distribution of food.
