Police officers from the Prevention Department of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra arrested a 35-year-old homeless man suspected of driving while intoxicated, violating a court-imposed ban and possessing drugs.
The incident occurred on 7 September this year, at approximately 3:42 p.m., on Nowowiejska Street in Jelenia Góra. The 35-year-old driver of an Opel Astra lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speed, left the road and hit a tree.
The driver was not injured. Police officers detected a strong smell of alcohol coming from him. It turned out that the 35-year-old was drunk. A breath test showed 1.2 per mille. Moreover, the man had several portions of marijuana on him.
It later turned out that the man had also violated a court-imposed ban. He was taken into police custody. He faces up to five years in prison.
