The body was found near a landfill in the town of Żarka nad Nysą by employees of a security company. The victim had a tied plastic bag over his head.

An autopsy was carried out, during which a forensic pathologist confirmed that the man had been unlawfully killed. The perpetrator struck his victim at least five times on the back of the head with a blunt-edged instrument. As a result, the victim suffered multiple skull fractures and cerebral edema, which led to his death.

On August 19, 2015, police officers from the Zgorzelec County Police Headquarters detained 21-year-old Zgorzelec resident Robert K., who confessed to committing the crime. The aforementioned man was charged with murder.

The suspect explained that Tomasz P. came to his home at around midnight on August 7. He proposed establishing a cannabis plantation. However, Robert K. did not want to agree because he was afraid that the matter would come to light and that both men would end up in prison. The victim then began shouting at him that they had to establish the “plantation” or K. would be harmed.

According to Robert K.’s explanation, Tomasz P. picked up a metal key. The suspect, fearing that P. might strike him with it, snatched the key from his hand and then struck the victim on the head several times with the tool. The man died as a result of his injuries.

When the victim fell to the ground, Robert K. dragged him into a car and drove him to a landfill near Jędrzychowice. There, he dumped the body and covered it with an old mattress, then put a plastic bag over the head so that the body would not be visible.

On August 21, the District Court, at the request of the District Prosecutor in Zgorzelec, remanded the suspect in temporary custody. He faces up to life imprisonment.
