The incident took place on 22 July this year, just after midnight. Officers patrolling one of Jelenia Góra’s housing estates noticed a man inside an Iveco vehicle who was behaving suspiciously: he was removing the car radio.
When he saw the police officers, the man tried to escape through the passenger-side door. A few minutes later, he was already in police custody. He is a 23-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra who has been previously noted for similar offences.
The police determined that he had broken into at least eight other cars. His loot consisted of car equipment, mainly car radios, CB radios and other valuable items.
The value of the stolen property was at least PLN 2,000. The Jelenia Góra resident faces up to 10 years in prison.
