The next arrest extends this period to six months. And if, despite this, the person whose licence was taken away decides to get behind the wheel, they lose their entitlement... completely and must obtain it again as if applying for it for the first time.
On 16 July 2015, at around 9:00 a.m., officers from the road traffic department stopped a bus driver for inspection on national road no. 3. The driver did not have his driving licence with him. After checking the systems, it turned out that the detained driver had lost his entitlement under the newly introduced regulations.
The officers established that the driver had first been stopped in Lubin County on 24 June 2015. At that time, in a built-up area, he exceeded the speed limit by 80 km/h (on a section where the limit was 40 km/h, he was driving at 120 km/h). By decision of the Lubin starosta, he lost his driving licence for three months.
He was stopped again on 8 July this year. In accordance with the new regulations, road traffic officers then applied to the county office to extend the period of suspension of his entitlement to six months.
Despite this, the 29-year-old resident of Lubin municipality got behind the wheel again, this time... of a bus. As he told the police after being stopped, he only wanted to drive it to a workshop.
This time, the man will lose his driving licence completely. He will also be punished for driving without the required entitlement.
