The duty officer at the Lubin police headquarters received a report of a robbery in which the victim was an elderly woman. An ambulance was immediately sent to the scene, namely the parking lot of a hypermarket in the Przylesie district of Lubin. Police patrols that were on duty at the time also arrived.
The 92-year-old resident of Lubin did her shopping at the store. She then went outside with her shopping cart and handbag to return the cart. At that moment, a man pushed her so hard in the back that she fell. He then snatched her handbag and ran away. He stole nearly PLN 800.
Fortunately, the victim did not suffer any serious injuries, and the perpetrator of the robbery, a 37-year-old homeless man, was soon arrested.
The 37-year-old had the money stolen from the handbag on him; it was returned to the victim. The handbag was also recovered after the perpetrator abandoned it while fleeing in a nearby park.
The suspect faces up to 12 years in prison.
