When bands such as Kraków Street Band and Castle Dreams played at Fr. Popiełuszko Square, crowds of residents of Zgorzelec and Görlitz listened to them. This year is expected to be similar. The “Musical Fridays” series is still a fresh idea, but one thing is already certain – it has really appealed to the residents of both our cities. That is why we are inviting you to Fr. Popiełuszko Square once again.

  • 10 July, 7 p.m. – the Nova Capela Polska baroque music ensemble
  • 17 July, 5 p.m. – Anna Lipiak, piano, works by Chopin and Liszt
  • 24 July, 5 p.m. – the Lubin City courtyard band
  • 7 August, 5 p.m. – Anna Lipiak, piano, works by Chopin, Rachmaninoff and Schumann
  • 14 August, 5 p.m. – the Bum Bum OrkeStar ensemble.

Anna Lipiak, a young and promising Polish pianist. She began learning to play the piano at the age of six at the First- and Second-Level Music School in Zgorzelec under the guidance of Cezary Kłós, and later also Grzegorz Niemczuk. She continued her musical education at the University of Silesia in Katowice, at the Faculty of Arts of the Institute of Music in Cieszyn. She has performed in many venues in Poland and Europe (the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Slovakia and Italy), where she received very positive reviews.

The Lubin City courtyard band was formed in 2011. Since then, it has performed at various events and festivals. The ensemble’s repertoire includes its own compositions as well as songs by other well-known courtyard artists, such as Kapela z Ulicy Chmielnej and Kapela Czerniakowska from Warsaw, Stanisław Wielanek and Stanisław Grzesiuk, as well as songs from Lviv.

Bum Bum OrkeStar combines Balkan music, klezmer and traditional Polish music. The ensemble can surprise audiences with its energy, but also move them with a plaintive melody. Every concert is unique and unpredictable. This is thanks to five musicians (clarinet, trumpet, accordion, tuba and tapan) who love what they do and, when playing, generate a great deal of positive energy, much like the famous Balkan wedding-and-funeral bands.
