The issue (we wrote about it in the article “Kidney donors” annoy residents) was raised again by Zdzisław Abramowicz, head of the Ziemia Bolesławiecka and Law and Justice councillors’ club: “I am returning to the matter of the blatant violation of traffic regulations by motorcyclists on Willowa Street, who, seeing that they are acting with impunity, are trying to emphasize it even more. I would like to remind you that the law specifies an appropriate speed for travelling on roads and an appropriate noise level. One of the residents approached me and said: I want to invite the police chief; I will provide him with food for the whole day—so that he can sit and listen, and see what is happening on our street.”

The councillor noted that surveillance is needed in this location, which would “show how this road is being used.” “Well, unless we wait until there is a fatal accident, and then the matter will speed up,” he added.

And he emphasized: “We are teaching people that they can act with impunity. This is not about taking away anyone’s pleasure in travelling on the road and using vehicles. It is about the fact that the pleasure of some puts others at risk. We are teaching people that they can toy with someone’s health and life.”

The floor was taken by Iwona Mandżuk-Dudek, deputy to Piotr Roman: “Unfortunately, we currently do not have the technical capability to install any surveillance there. I am also in favour of this solution, but it may turn out that it will not happen quickly…”

“This is a matter of the credibility of our law,” said Z. Ambramowicz. He added that people constantly approach him and ask: what kind of country do we live in if the law applies only to a few? “We look unserious as representatives of local government, not to mention how the police look when they cannot deal with people known by name and surname,” he emphasized.

“I agree with you, but the technical conditions are also important to me. I cannot connect another camera there because the matrix is being used to such an extent that it is simply no longer possible,” the deputy mayor replied.

The Ziemia Bolesławiecka councillor said that, in that case, the residents of Willowa would take matters into their own hands and park their cars in such a way that motorcycle runs along this section would become impossible. I. Mandżuk-Dudek assured them that the city authorities were constantly considering how to solve the problem.

We will return to the matter.
