The celebrations of the 60th anniversary of BKS Bobrzanie are under way. The festivities began with an academy at the “Orzeł” Centre for Cultural Integration, attended by BKS players, officials, authorities and friends. Also present at the academy was Andrzej Kowal – President of the District Football Association in Jelenia Góra. The meeting was chaired by Jacek Szymczak. He briefly presented the history and greatest achievements of the club. Andrzej Kowal also spoke. The OZPN President thanked the Bolesławiec club for its contribution to the development of football in Lower Silesia and to youth development. To mark BKS’s 60th anniversary, the OZPN – Jelenia Góra Board presented the club with a commemorative cup.
Later in the academy, decorations were presented to people who had rendered outstanding service to the club. They included players, sponsors, former and current officials, and friends of the club. Among them were, among others: Mirosław Lik, Mirosław Szapiel, Jerzy Stanik, Stanisław Zapiór, Tomasz Jasiński, Jan Woch, Piotr Bieńkowski, Jacek Szymczak, Henryk Szewc, Cecylia Dorosz, Michał Małkowski, Jacek Dudyński, Władysław Wężyk, Józef Pietrzak and Paweł Rissmann. The city authorities were also thanked for their assistance; they were represented by Deputy Mayor Kornel Filipowicz.
At 1:00 p.m., a match began at the stadium on Spółdzielcza Street, with BKS oldboys facing Zagłębie Lubin oldboys. The BKS–Olimpia Kowary league match will begin at 5:00 p.m. A charity drive will also be held at the stadium for ill girl Julia Wieczorek. Admission to the BKS–Olimpia Kowary match is free.
