The workshops are aimed at musically talented children and young people from Gmina Lubin. The classes will bring young people together to work on a selected music programme; under the supervision of professional musicians, they will prepare for a concert.
The aim of this musical meeting is to provide young people with skills including working on verbal and musical material, improving vocal and instrumental abilities, stimulating creativity and the courage to appear on stage, and searching for the appropriate interpretation of a piece. However, the main aim of the workshops is to educate young people through art, which is a source of the comprehensive development of an individual’s personality.
The result of the workshops will be the preparation of a group to play together during World Youth Day in 2016, when young people from various parts of the world will come to Lubin. The World Youth Day programme consists of the central days of meetings between young people and the Holy Father, known as the Central Events, as well as accompanying spiritual and cultural events, such as liturgies, catecheses, meetings with well-known communities and religious movements operating throughout the world, and concerts and performances:
- Central Events: 25–31 July 2016, Kraków
- Diocesan Events: 20–25 July 2016, Lubin.
The workshops will begin on Saturday (13 June) in the Parish of St Maximilian and will continue until the afternoon of the following day.
The classes will conclude with a concert, which will take place on Sunday, 14 June, at 7:00 p.m. at the “Muza” Culture Centre. The workshop participants and the musicians leading them will perform. They will present pieces arranged during the exercises and talk about World Youth Day.
