A police officer who was off duty informed the duty officer at the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters that a driver who might be intoxicated was travelling through the city streets. The duty officer immediately sent a traffic patrol to the scene. At one of the intersections, the officers spotted the indicated vehicle.
When he saw the police, the man tried to flee, which led to a collision with another vehicle. The person responsible for the crash turned out to be a 28-year-old resident of Bolesławiec. During his arrest, the man was aggressive and still tried to make a run for it.
The detained man had nearly 2.5 per mille of alcohol in his system. In addition, the police determined that the man did not have a driving licence and was wanted—he is to serve a prison sentence of one year and eight months.
He now faces a driving ban of at least three years and a fine of no less than PLN 5,000.
