The vehicle in question is a so-called heavy fire engine built on the chassis of a Renault truck—the Kerax 420.34 model. "It is equipped with a pressure pump with a hose and a rapid-attack nozzle," describes Jerzy Kieler, deputy district commander of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec. "It will be very useful to us. It is economical and environmentally friendly, has off-road suspension, and our district is, after all, one of the largest in the voivodeship and has many forested areas," adds Jerzy Kieler.
The Reanault Kerax is equipped with a six-cylinder engine with a turbocharger and a Common Rail injection system, giving it a maximum power of 412 hp. It also meets Euro 3 exhaust-emission standards. The firefighting system has an 8,000-litre water tank and an 800-litre tank for foaming agent. The vehicle is equipped with the latest firefighting equipment, located in various parts of the vehicle.
The vehicle, together with its firefighting equipment, costs approximately one million złotys. The funds for its purchase came from European Union funds and an environmental protection fund. They were obtained thanks to the involvement of, among others, the Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Wrocław.
