A Ruszów Forest District patrol and firefighting vehicle was dispatched to the fire, and the Zgorzelec County State Fire Service Command Post was notified. It dispatched the Ruszów and Jagodzin Volunteer Fire Services and a State Fire Service Rescue and Firefighting Unit from Zgorzelec. The fire was quickly located and extinguished; it was literally just a few minutes away from reaching the forest plantation.

The forest floor covering over an area of 0.03 hectares was burned in a 133-year-old stand. The fire was caused by a campfire left behind by people who had been socializing late in the evening or at night. Beer cans, alcohol bottles and food leftovers were found around it.

The police were notified of the fire.
