The National Victory Day is a public holiday established—according to the provisions of the law—“to commemorate the victory over Nazi Germany.” The law introducing the new holiday on 8 May, signed just on Thursday, thereby abolished the National Victory and Freedom Day previously observed on 9 May.
The Świętoszów Brigade commemorated the anniversary of the end of World War II with a ceremonial assembly. The gathering was particularly significant, as this year marks 70 years since the Third Reich signed the act of unconditional surrender.
The Świętoszów armored soldiers paid tribute to the soldiers who fought for the Homeland on the fronts of World War II, whose commitment and sacrifice resulted in victory over the Nazi invader. The words spoken on 8 May by the brigade’s deputy commander, Colonel Dariusz Nawrocki, are close to the heart of every person serving in the 10BKPanc: “There are values that cannot be bought, which must be fought for and for which the highest price is paid. The Homeland is the supreme goal for every person.”
