The tournament aims to promote among children and young people knowledge of fire safety regulations, procedures to follow in the event of a fire, firefighting technology, the organisation of fire protection, and the history and traditions of the firefighting movement.
A pupil of the Primary School in Ruszów, Maksymilian Drgas (aged 13), achieved a major success. Representing Zgorzelec County, he came third in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in his age category (primary schools). He missed qualifying for the national-level tournament by only a few points.
All tournament participants toured the Nowa Ruda mine, and at the end the winners received certificates and prizes. Maksymilian Drgas is a member of the Youth Firefighting Team operating at OSP Ruszów.
