The incident occurred at the 21st kilometre of the A4 motorway in the direction of Zgorzelec. At around 4:50 p.m., the driver of a Mercedes passenger car lost control of the vehicle and hit an energy-absorbing barrier. When the emergency services arrived, the Mercedes driver was already gone.
The operation involved, among others, volunteer firefighters from Nowogrodziec and Wykroty (one unit each).

As it turns out, the unknown perpetrator did not flee the scene by chance. The Mercedes had been... stolen. It was stolen from a woman living in Pieńsk (Zgorzelec County) during the night of March 28–29.
The matter is being investigated by police officers from the police station in Pieńsk.
