The poll has ended.
The motivation for carrying out the project came from the findings of research completed in 2014 by the Polistrefa Foundation for Diversity, concerning the occurrence of and responses to religious discrimination in schools in Małopolska, published in the report “Between Tolerance and Discrimination”. They showed that education authorities and school principals:
- do not take steps to prevent discrimination on the grounds of religion or worldview
- in many cases do not see the need or possibility of ensuring conditions for teaching a religion other than Roman Catholicism or organising ethics classes
- point to the lack of legal regulations concerning: the status of catechists at school, their participation in subject teams and influence on the curriculum content of compulsory subjects, as well as the organisation on school premises by catechists, or by school authorities in a church, of compulsory religious activities for all students, such as: Holy Mass associated with the beginning of the school year and the oath-taking ceremony for first-year students; pilgrimages to holy sites; Passion plays.
