In a separate case conducted by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra, several people were charged with participating in a criminal group involved in stealing passenger cars. These individuals acted in various configurations, and after being detained, most of them gave statements implicating their accomplices.

Two of the suspects in the car theft case—26-year-old Damian W. and 21-year-old Krzysztof A.—wanted to take revenge on another suspect in the case and influence his conduct, which they believed was harming their interests, so they undertook actions intended to intimidate their former associate.

On October 22, 2014, W. and A. poured butyric acid into the interior of the apartment occupied by the victim, after bending the entrance door open with a crowbar. Earlier, they had tried to drill a hole in the door for this purpose, but failed. In addition, they threatened their acquaintance with death and threw eggs at the windows of his apartment.

Two days after the incident, one of them painted a series of insulting messages addressed to the victim in the stairwell containing the apartment.

A month later, both suspects used a knife to puncture four tires on a car belonging to the victim’s sister.

In December 2014, information about these incidents reached the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra. After swiftly verifying the reports, the prosecutor ordered the arrest of both men and charged them with influencing a co-suspect, as well as damaging property worth more than PLN 2,600.

The court ordered the intimidation suspects to be held in pre-trial detention. They face up to five years in prison.
