Parents are now waiting most anxiously for the starost’s decision on whether he will hand WTZ over to Caritas. Dariusz Kwaśniewski told Istotne.pl that he would announce the final decision on February 17. We wrote about the matter in the article "WTZ: The county office does not want the Bolesławiec association".
“On the occasion of this anniversary, I wish the Association the same level of commitment, and even greater success in the future, in providing WTZ participants with additional attractions, courses and activities,” the starost said, adding that the county office helped obtain EU funding for a computer course for workshop participants, which will be conducted by a Wrocław-based company.
Mayor Piotr Roman, who remembers the difficult beginnings of the workshops and the Association, recalled Marian Kostecki, the Association’s founder and originator. “I trusted him, so I offered the Association the building on Grunwaldzka Street. Now I have offered a better location in the hospital building on 1000-lecia Street, but I will give these rooms only to the Association,” the mayor warned.
Association president Arkadiusz Żądło was happiest about simple, practical things. “Our greatest success is that ten participants in our workshops found jobs, and several people got married,” the president said, expressing hope that the Association and the parents would continue running WTZ in Boelsławiec.
Many guests attended the anniversary celebration, including representatives of the local authorities: deputy starost Marian Haniszewski, board member Stanisław Chwojnicki, City Council chair Jarosław Kowalski and WTZ’s longtime friend Janina Piestrak-Babijczuk, as well as numerous county and city officials.
Friends from the “Cytrynka” workshops in Dorohusk also came especially for the celebration. They traveled 700 kilometers to attend the anniversary, alongside representatives of WTZ from Lwówek, Zgorzelec and Lubań.
